Arsenal are reportedly prepared to pay a €62 million (£53 million) release clause and offer a high salary to lure Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer, as per Spanish outlet Sport (via Sport Witness).
The Gunners are looking to make significant improvements to their forwards department following a relatively underwhelming 2024/25 season that saw them finish second in the Premier League for a third consecutive time under boss Mikel Arteta.
Amid inconsistency from both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, Arsenal are eager to sign a new wide man and are keen to ensure that such a signing can raise the level of the squad, rather than solely add depth.
Arsenal Prepared to Sign Williams
The player wants Barcelona
According to Saturday's edition of Sport, Williams has a number of offers on the table from the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich, but he is keen to hear from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona first.
The Blaugrana were interested in landing Williams last summer, but a deal did not come to fruition and the club's priority has now turned to Liverpool ace Luis Diaz. It means other interested suitors have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of the Spaniard, who registered 11 goals and seven assists in all competitions last season.

Previously described as "frightening", Arteta especially "loves" Williams and is desperate to add a player with his speed and flair to elevate his team's threat on the flanks. These are qualities Arsenal have lacked on the left wing, with Martinelli and Trossard often criticised in the past for their rather predictable nature.
