Manchester United offered €50 million-rated star in exchange for Antony - Reports

close

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano via Football Insider, Juventus had offered Manchester United Douglas Luiz in a swap deal for Antony. The Player exchange was the brainchild of recently dismissed Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli.

The Red Devils and Old Lady of Turin are both in need of extensive rebuilds after disappointing campaigns that saw them both end their campaigns without silverware.

While both clubs initially held discussions about a potential swap deal for the two Brazilians, Romano believes the deal is now on ice, saying via Football Insider:

"The discussion for Antony and Douglas Luiz, at the moment, is not even advancing anymore."

Antony enjoyed a resurgence on loan at Real Betis in the second half of last season, bagging nine goals and five assists in just under 2200 minutes across 26 appearances to help the Andalusian side to the UEFA Conference League final.

The forward has attracted attention in his services after his loan, with a move away from Old Trafford expected this summer. His contract with Manchester United runs until the summer of 2027.

Manchester United target discusses potential summer move

Manchester United transfer target Bryan Mbeumo has discussed his potential move away from Brentford and interest in his services. The Cameroonian international is coming off a strong campaign that saw him bag 20 EPL goals for the Bees.

Speaking in a recent interview with L’Equipe via the Metro, the 25-year-old shared his excitement at being linked with a move to some of the biggest clubs in the world, saying:

"I have spent five years at Brentford, at a club that has allowed me to grow and pass a milestone but yes, I would like to play in the biggest competitions, at the best clubs. It is tantalising to see some big clubs interested in me.”

Mbeumo joined his West London employers in 2019 from French side Troyes for a reported € 6.5 million fee. He has spent five years at the club, scoring 70 goals and providing 51 assists in 242 appearances.

Manchester United are hoping to finalize a deal for the Cameroonian, but could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for his signature after they hired his former Brentford manager Thomas Frank recently.

Patrick’s favorite team is Manchester United for their unparallelled legacy and success in the game. He is a big admirer of Michael Carrick and his ‘smooth’ style of play back in the days. His favorite manager is Jose Mourinho, who according to him, brought a ‘swagger’ to football with his unique managerial style. Robin van Persie’s title-winning volley against Aston Villa for the 2013 PL triumph is etched in his memory forever.

Patrick always uses trusted outlets that produce accurate, balanced and fair information, and which present multiple point of views. He believes in reporting in a holistic manner for the readers’ benefit.
