Vladimír Coufal could reunite with David Moyes at Everton this summer.

Coufal’s contract at West Ham expires this month, and the Hammers have already announced that the 32-year-old will depart after five years in East London.

Everton are on the lookout for good value-for-money deals in defensive areas as they focus the bulk of their budget on bringing in attackers like Thierno Barry.

Moyes has understandably been linked with players from his former club, and Coufal could be his first transfer this summer following recent developments.

Coufal is looking to stay in the Premier League

Coufal joined West Ham in the same summer as his compatriot Tomáš Souček and went on to play a big part in Moyes‘ success during his tenure.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

As reported by Caughtoffside (12 June), Coufal is keen to stay in the Premier League and could favour a move to Everton to work with his former manager.

The defender was a stalwart for Moyes during their time together at West Ham, but this season has seen the veteran fall out of favour with the Irons.

Ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that a move to the Toffees could be mutually beneficial, and that the two parties would have no issues agreeing personal terms.

“Moyes will know Coufal well from their time at West Ham,” King said.

“This is a free agent, a player who Moyes has worked with. This will obviously be an interesting player for Everton to bring into the football club.

“Moyes will know whether Coufal will be beneficial to the squad, and if he is, Everton will look to sign him, and I don’t think there will be any issue agreeing personal terms.”

Coufal deal makes sense for Everton

There was plenty of optimism around the Merseyside club as it was publicly stated that Moyes would be backed this window, but The Friedkin Group are coming under fire as no deals have been concluded.

Fans are getting impatient, and while a deal for Coufal wouldn’t necessarily get people on their feet, it could give Moyes a welcome boost.

The right-back would bring both energy and experience, as well as a good work ethic, and could slot into the squad as a rotational option on the right, effectively replacing Ashley Young.
