‘Special derby’: Fabrizio Romano shares Andy Robertson detail that could cement Atletico Madrid move

No matter what happens, the Scotsman will go down as one of Liverpool’s best-ever purchases.

Not many players can say they have come into a side and held down a position year after year, especially at a club the size of the Reds.

Revolutionising that position would be even more impressive too, but Andy Robertson has done both of those things since joining from Hull City eight years ago.

The left-back, alongside his former partner in crime Trent Alexander-Arnold, has changed the role of full-backs for years to come, with their demands of being able to bomb down the wing and create chances now being vital.

However, now 31, Robertson has been approached by Atletico Madrid and he could be set for a new adventure in the Spanish capital, much to the disappointment of Liverpool fans.

Although his fate is not yet decided, there is one key detail in the story that may bring back bad memories for fans and suggest that he is more likely to leave than stay.

Andy Robertson’s agent is Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brother

Robertson and Alexander-Arnold were inseparable during their time together at Liverpool and they have changed the way the game will be forever.

Both sharing similar characteristics on the pitch, they also appear to have something in common off it too, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Alexander-Arnold’s brother, Tyler, is the agent of both full-backs.

“Andy Robertson would be keen on a move to Spain, he has the same agent as Trent Alexander-Arnold,” Romano revealed on his YouTube channel.

“So, in the same summer the two full-backs of Liverpool, Trent on the right and Robertson on the left, could move to Madrid. It would be a special derby.”

Tyler is the director of the agency PLG, the representatives of both the Englishman and the Scotsman, a bad omen that Liverpool fans may be worried about.

Alexander-Arnold’s brother was key in Trent making the move to the Spanish capital, and he might just play a vital role in Robertson doing the same, even if it isn’t what Reds fans want.

Liverpool should let Andy Robertson leave

Despite still having plenty to offer, as well as being the perfect role model for the incoming Milos Kerkez, if Robertson wants to leave then it would be more than fair if Liverpool honour his decision.

After eight years of service and being a player that leaves his all on the pitch, it would be rather unfair if the Reds stood in the way of him making a move that does not come around often.

As well as this, his sub-par performances last season show that he is already on a slight decline, as expected as he gets older, so it might be good to see him leave as a hero rather than stay long enough to become a villain.

Although Liverpool fans would never turn on him no matter how bad his performances got, leaving on a high rather than a whimper may be best for both parties, suggesting now might be the best time to move on.
