Harvey Elliott says £60m player Liverpool are in talks to sign is even better than Ryan Gravenberch

Harvey Elliott is currently away from Liverpool on England U21 duty.

The Liverpool No.19 is in Slovakia for the UEFA European U21 Championship as England aim to defend their crown, and he has partaken in a “challenge” with the official UEFA account on X (previously known as Twitter).

During the video, Harvey Elliott made a claim about Rafael Leao – who Liverpool have reportedly held talks about signing from AC Milan this summer.

Harvey Elliott says Rafael Leao is a better player than Ryan Gravenberch

The “challenge” was a bit strange, as UEFA asked the England U21 international to pick between two players who play in different positions, but nonetheless, he opted for the Portugal international over his own teammate Ryan Gravenberch.

It comes after Tutto Mercato Web revealed that Liverpool are holding talks to sign Leao – who Florian Plettenburg has since claimed to have a £60m price tag this summer.

Elliott also opted for Cole Palmer over Florian Wirtz, which could raise a few eyebrows at Anfield as Liverpool close in on a club-record £116m deal for the Germany international.

If a deal materialises, Harvey Elliott might not even get to play alongside Rafael Leao

Despite picking Leao over his own teammate, the 22-year-old might not be at Anfield to welcome the AC Milan No.10 if an agreement does materialise.

Elliott could leave Liverpool this summer after making just two Premier League starts under Arne Slot last season, with Newcastle United keeping an eye on the situation.

The man from Chertsey has even hinted at an exit, saying: “I think it’s just a situation that me and the team on my behalf have to have a conversation about.

“I’m going to be 23 next season and I don’t really want to be wasting years of my career, because it’s a short career.”

The arrival of another attacking midfielder in Wirtz is sure to lessen the chances available to Elliott, and Liverpool may opt to make some sales after spending a record sum on the German, so we can certainly see the Fulham academy graduate leaving Anfield this summer.
