Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff could leave this summer for as little as £10million - according to new reports.

Football Insider now claim that Longstaff, who will see his current contract end in June 2026, will be available to buy this summer for a knockdown fee. It was back in 2019 that Longstaff was linked with a £50m move to Manchester United with the Red Devils refusing to pay the asking price.

The North Shields lad has been linked heavily with Everton and Leeds United this summer and Newcastle could look to take the cash sum on offer. Alternatively, Longstaff could sit out the final year of his contract and examine the clutch of offers to leave for free next summer.

He could also start talking to teams in Europe from January onwards. But it feels like Longstaff holds the cards on his next move with Eddie Howe also giving him encouragement to stay and fight for his future and potentially a new deal.

Reflecting on his links with Man United back in 2024, Longstaff said: "When the Manchester United stuff came around, I was still still so young. I'd probably deal with it differently now and not allow myself to get caught up in every little thing going on with it. I was coming back from my knee injury at the time, trying to get fit to prove

"I could still play. People are talking about you and have built you up so much that the perception is 'Now you're like Lionel Messi'. Everyone was expecting too much.

"If that move had happened, I'd never have been about for the Newcastle takeover and I'd never have been able to captain the club. There are so many things I wouldn't have been able to do."

But now the Geordie finds himself at a crossroads in his career knowing it will be desperately tough to play ahead of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.

Both Leeds United and Everton would take Longstaff and Chronicle Live understands those moves have been essentially parked until the window hots up later this summer.
