Mike Evans Has High Praise For Bucs Rookie

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added another prime weapon to their offense this season.

Not many people expected them to roll with Ohio State star Emeka Egbuka, given their current WR corps, but he was still a welcome addition to the mix.

He hasn’t been there for long, but he’s already made a strong impression.

That’s why veteran star Mike Evans gushed about his new teammate:

> “He looks like a running back, but I mean, he catches like Chris Godwin,” Evans [said](https://www.nfl.com/news/mike-evans-on-emeka-egbuka-looks-like-a-running-back-but-catches-like-chris-godwin) of Egbuka. “He’s a very polished, very well-rounded player.”

While not the highest-ranked wide receiver in this class, Egbuka might be in line to have one of the best rookie seasons.

He’s entering a high-octane offense, and with all the attention Evans draws, he should have plenty of wide-open lanes in the slot once Chris Godwin is also back on the field.

Like most Buckeyes, Egbuka is more than used to sharing the spotlight with other star pass-catchers, and he doesn’t need that many touches to make a difference.

Egbuka has gotten additional reps during the offseason because of Godwin’s season-ending ankle injury, and he’s quickly gotten up to speed with the offense.

Mayfield is playing the best football of his career, and another season playing in that offense and developing chemistry with Evans and Godwin might lead to him being even better next season.

He will have another prime weapon and a big-bodied wide receiver to wreak havoc with.

And even though the Atlanta Falcons pose a major threat to end the Buccaneers’ supremacy atop the NFC South Division, the Bucs have the potential to have one of the most explosive offenses in the game this season.
