Inter Milan have made Rasmus Hojlund their primary target this summer, according to reports over in Italy, while Manchester United are reportedly open to a quick sale.

The Denmark striker's future at Old Trafford looks increasingly uncertain, with a move back to Serie A on the cards just two seasons after he joined United from Atalanta for £64million. After two underwhelming campaigns, the 22-year-old could be sold for nearly half of what the club originally paid, it has been said.

Both Inter Milan and Napoli have shown interest in Hojlund, but Gazzetta dello Sport now reckon that Inter have moved ahead in the race and have made him their number one target.

They explained the situation using Hojlund's Tour de France friend, Jonas Vingegaard, as a metaphor, where they wrote: "Hojlund has climbed on the pedals, as if he were his compatriot Jonas Vingegaard, a champion of the bike and winner of two Tours.

"Now, he's ahead of everyone in the club's preferences for the attack of the future; there is finally room for an investment up front and, at the moment, nowhere seems to deserve it more."

Inter Milan are reportedly working on the deal, while competing in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. Hojlund is said to be intrigued by the idea of joining the Italian giants.

As per Corriere dello Sport, United have set Hojlund's price tag between €40million-€45million (£34million-£38.3million) - less than half the original fee. The club are eager to raise funds quickly, for their own summer business, which includes mooted targets like Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.

Interestingly, Corriere also claim that United have chosen to keep Joshua Zirkzee over Hojlund, despite the Denmark forward finishing last season with three more goal involvements than the Dutchman. Both players, however, had relatively quiet 2024/2525 campaigns.

While United are reportedly seeking a straight cash sale, Inter Milan favour a loan deal - with an obligation to buy. The decision now lies with United head coach Ruben Amorim, who must determine whether Hojlund remains part of his long-term vision.
