Arsenal continue to produce the next generation through its renowned Hale End academy.
In recent years, several outstanding talents have broken into the first team, most notably Bukayo Saka, and more recently, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.
Nwaneri, one of the most recent graduates, has already made a significant impact in the first team.
His direct style of play is reflective of his footballing idols growing up, including a surprising name from one of Arsenal’s biggest rivals.

Nwaneri has previously named Cristiano Ronaldo as one of his idols growing up.
In a recent FootballJOE segment, he named the player who inspired him most, outside the usual names of Messi and Ronaldo.
His choice was none other than Chelsea legend, Eden Hazard. The young attacker spoke about being drawn to Hazard’s ability to take control of matches with flair and confidence.
While Nwaneri doesn’t seek to directly replicate any single player, he tries to blend elements from different players into his own game, staying true to his unique style on the pitch.
When asked which football inspired him growing up, he said: “Eden Hazard, definitely. Definitely an attacker that inspired me. Just the way that he could take a game by the scruff of the neck.
“I wouldn’t say I mould my game, but I can take bits from everyone and add it to my own game. Because I think the main thing about playing well is being yourself.”
Ethan Nwaneri is the next rising star at Arsenal
Nwaneri joined Arsenal’s academy at the age of eight and quickly progressed through the ranks, developing alongside close teammate Lewis-Skelly.
In September 2022, he made history by becoming the youngest-ever Premier League player at just 15 years and 181 days, coming off the bench against Brentford.
This past season marked his breakthrough campaign, with goals against Preston, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, and Manchester City.
He also became only the third player, after Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney, to score five goals in a season before turning 18.
Although not yet a regular starter, Nwaneri has made the most of his opportunities. Across 37 appearances and just over 1,400 minutes, he recorded 9 goals and 2 assists, showing outstanding attacking ability.
He is widely rated among his teammates, with Bukayo Saka backing him to become a top player.
Still only 18, Nwaneri is one of the brightest prospects and looks well on course for a bigger first-team role under Mikel Arteta.
