Real Madrid have continued to monitor the situation 18-year-old Arsenal star, Myles Lewis-Skelly, as the teenager enters the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Spanish giants are keeping close tabs on Lewis-Skelly, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young talents following a stellar 2024/25 season under Mikel Arteta.

The Hale End graduate made 39 appearances across all competitions, including 23 starts in the Premier League and 10 in the Champions League, where his standout performance in Arsenal’s 5-1 quarter-final victory over Real Madrid caught the eye of Los Blancos.

Initially a midfielder, Lewis-Skelly has seamlessly transitioned into a left-back role, impressing with his composure, intelligence, and tactical awareness. He capped off his meteoric rise with a senior England debut in March, scoring in a 2-0 win over Albania and becoming the youngest goalscorer in Three Lions history.

Real Madrid view the England international as a long-term solution for their left-back position, with Ferland Mendy’s future uncertain and Fran Garcia struggling to lock down a starting spot. According to The Guardian, the club are even willing to wait until 2026 to sign Lewis-Skelly on a free transfer should he fail to agree a new contract with Arsenal, similar to their approach with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Arsenal, however, are determined to keep hold of their prized talent. The Sun reports that the club are in advanced talks with Lewis-Skelly over a new long-term contract that would significantly increase his current £10,000-per-week salary. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also indicated that both parties are “very happy” with the progress of negotiations, suggesting an agreement could be imminent. A new deal for fellow academy star Ethan Nwaneri is also reportedly in the works.

While Madrid are believed to be moving closer to signing Benfica’s Álvaro Carreras, which may ease their urgency to secure Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal remain focused on locking down their next generation of talent.
