According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are in advanced talks to extend the 18-year-old defender’s contract, with discussions progressing positively behind the scenes.
Lewis-Skelly has enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign, establishing himself as Arsenal’s first-choice left-back and earning international recognition with England. A product of the club’s Hale End academy, the youngster’s rapid rise to prominence has attracted the attention of Real Madrid, who are known for closely monitoring emerging talents across Europe.

“A conversation that started before the January transfer window and then restarted with Andrea Berta as director, but going very well.”
While Real Madrid’s interest is genuine, Arsenal have no intention of letting their academy star depart, particularly after his standout performances throughout the season. With 39 appearances across all competitions, including key Champions League outings, Lewis-Skelly has quickly become a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Other reports have also stated that once signed, Lewis-Skelly’s new long-term contract would significantly increase his current £10,000-per-week salary. A new deal for fellow academy star Ethan Nwaneri is also reportedly in the works.
