Bills Critic Pinpoints One Biggest ‘Clutch’ Flaw of Josh Allen’s Offense

Ever since the Buffalo Bills traded All-Pro Stefon Diggs last offseason, analysts around the league have questioned the team's receiver room. Buffalo was after all left without a quality No. 1 option in the passing game.

It certainly worked out last year, though.

Josh Allen was the league's MVP due to his heroics last season. He helped carry the Bills to the AFC Championship Game for the second time. Young receivers like Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir quickly became quality pass catchers.

But …

Heading into the 2025 season, not everyone is as high on Buffalo's receiving room as they are.

Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton named Allen's supporting cast as the Bills' biggest roster flaw.

"Buffalo can match (anybody) at quarterback with 2024 MVP Josh Allen, who's capable of making spectacular game-winning plays as a passer and ball-carrier, but the team may not have enough around its star quarterback," Moton wrote.

"Buffalo has great depth at wide receiver with Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Elijah Moore, Joshua Palmer, and Curtis Samuel on the roster, but who's going to be the go-to target in clutch moments?"

It's a viable question. Most of the best teams in the league have a quality No. 1 receiver, and the fact that Buffalo doesn't have one could be a legitimate concern.

The one way those concerns can be squashed is if someone in the room can step up to produce at a high level.

Whether it's Moore, Shakir, or Coleman, someone might need to become the "top dog" in the room - especially in the clutch - if Buffalo is to get past teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens..

Until then, the Bills' receiver room could be the position group holding them back in 2025.
