Ozzy Trapilo was joined by the rest of the 2025 Chicago Bears rookie class at Wrigley Field on Friday.
And he got an incredible honor, with the former Boston College offensive lineman [throwing out the first pitch](https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1933682385150779577) before the Chicago Cubs’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“I think it was fine,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said of the pitch. “It wasn’t Ben Johnson’s effort. Johnson threw a strike. That guy had some action on his ball. This was just meh.”
Trapilo was regarded as a Day-2 prospect, and that assessment was correct as the Bears selected him in the second round with the No. 56 overall pick. He was the second Eagle drafted on the second day, with defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku going to the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 44 overall pick.

For some time, Trapilo was a possible target for the Patriots considering their need at tackle. While all signs pointed to them taking Will Campbell, which they ultimately did, some thought that the Patriots could use their first two picks to add two talented tackles. And at BC Pro Day in March, Eagles head coach Bill O’Brien spoke highly of Trapilo, explaining exactly the type of player a team would acquire by drafting him.
“I mean to me, it’s a great question,” O’Brien told reporters. “It’s an easy question for me because Ozzy is the type of guy who is just the same guy every day. Never misses practice. Very tough, very talented, very smart – he’s got a master’s degree from Boston College.

“He’d be excellent in the locker room. He’ll do whatever the coach asks him to do. He’ll play right tackle, he’ll play left tackle, he’ll play guard if you ask him – he’ll do whatever you ask him to do. He always puts the team first.”
However, instead of protecting Drake Maye this season, Trapilo will be protecting fellow 2024 draft pick Caleb Williams.
