The transfer battle between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is still on going, with United desperate to get their man.

The Red Devils have been front runners for the Cameroon international, however Spurs threw a spanner in the works by hiring Brentford manager Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s successor as the club’s new manager.

Coming into his new side, Frank brought several members of his coaching staff from his time with Brentford, however was also keen to bring Mbeumo too.

It’s been reported that he urged Spurs to launch a £70 million bid to hijack The Red Devils’ transfer which Tottenham now have gone and done.

The bid is made up of £65 million as a transfer fee and £10 million in add-ons, with United’s second bid reported at £60 million.

It’s understood that Spurs are hoping to lure the Brentford attacker to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium with his links to Frank, however Mbeumo has now spoken out about the manager’s appointment.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Bryan Mbeumo commented: “He’s done so much for me, he trusted me from the start and I think he developed a lot of the team so well.”

He continued: “He developed me as a human and as a player so much as well so I can only wish him all the best and I’m sure he’s going to do well.”

Whilst these comments clearly show that Mbeumo hold’s his former manager in high regard, it doesn’t sound as if he’s desperate to continue underneath the Danish coach.

This will surely be giving United fans hope that Frank’s lure isn’t as strong as he hoped, meaning that Ruben Amorim can nab his second big signing of the summer.

“He’s done so much for me – I’m sure he will do well!” 🤝
