Andrea Berta continues to work behind the scenes on Arsenal transfers this summer.
Another week of the Premier League break has passed and Arsenal are still to announce a first major signing of the transfer window.
Mikel Arteta and the Gunners still have plenty of time to push deals through and it’s beginning to become clear how Arsenal may line up next season as transfer links swirl. LondonWorld looks at what a dream starting XI could look like for the club, if the current transfer rumours were to prove true.
Arsenal dream starting XI if transfer rumours prove true
Goalkeeper: David Raya
Defenders: Myles Lewis-Skelly, Alexsandro, Gabriel, Jurrien Timber
David Raya will remain the main man in between the sticks next season after another impressive campaign at the Emirates Stadium. Neto had been deputising on loan from AFC Bournemouth but is set to return to the Vitality, and Sky Sports reports the Gunners are looking at bringing Kepa Arrizabalaga in from Chelsea.
There is less pressure on Berta to change the back four with Arsenal assured defensively last season. The future of William Saliba is under some doubt amid admiration from Real Madrid. Should he leave, Brazilian outlet UOL claim that the London outfit could move for Lille man Alexsandro, who has been impressing from Brazil recently.
The Gunners look to sign £49m winger and Sporting CP talisman
Midfielders: Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi
Wingers: Bukayo Saka, Nico Williams
Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice will remain the key men in midfield but are set to be joined by Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for months and it appears to just be a matter of time for Arsenal to confirm that move. He’ll provide competition for Mikel Merino and Thomas Partey, should the latter extend his contract.
Bukayo Saka will be desperate to avoid another season hit by injury next term. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have competed for a place on the opposite flank but Arsenal could look to improve in that area by recruiting in-demand Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, who has a £49 million release clause in his current contract.
Striker: Viktor Gyokeres
A new striker is the number one priority for Arsenal this summer. The Gunners struggled without the injured Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, with a lack of firepower ultimately stopping the club competing in a title chase. Havertz and Jesus have had questions over their ability to lead the line even when fit.
RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko is a strong candidate to come in, but so too is Sporting CP talisman Viktor Gyokeres. The Guardian reports that Gyokeres will ‘snub’ Manchester United to make a move to Arsenal happen.
In other news, Arsenal's £32m signing 'expected' to leave for just £10m with three clubs keen.
