Wanderers waiting for Chelsea green light on Teddy Sharman-Lowe loan deal

[The Bolton News](http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk) understands that a deal has been agreed with Chelsea to loan the 22-year-old for the season but that an announcement has been slowed because the Premier League club is currently involved at the Club World Cup in the US.

The situation has been further complicated with the fact that Sharman-Lowe is also in Slovakia with England for the European Under-21 Championships.

But the details of the transfer are all-but done, with Sharman-Lowe set to link up with his former Chelsea team-mate Xavier Simons, who was signed from Hull City last week.

After loan spells with Burton, Havant and Waterlooville and Bromley, it was last season’s stint at Doncaster Rovers which really brought Sharman-Lowe to the public eye. Making 51 appearances in all competitions for Grant McCann’s side, he helped them secure the league title, keeping 15 clean sheets along the way.

Talking about Sharman-Lowe’s progress last season, McCann said there had been opportunities to play at a higher level last season which did not necessarily guarantee the same game time.

“It wasn’t easy to get him because there were quite a lot of clubs interested in him and we’d wondered if he would even drop into League Two,” he said. “But I think he has made a really good decision because he has played every single game and maybe if he had gone to League One, would he have done that? I don’t know if they give him the chance and the time.

“We have, and we have also reaped the rewards. He has trained really well, played really well and obviously got some recognition from England.”

[Wanderers](http://theboltonnews.co.uk/wanderers) have officially added four new signings to the squad this summer so far, with Simons joined by Sam Dalby, Charlie Warren and Richard Taylor. The club’s chances of signing Hull City’s left-back Matty Jacob are receding, however, with Reading now pushing hard to make him their first signing of the summer.

Hull are keen to move the 24-year-old defender out to make space in their wage budget for new signings, and Jacob has also received a good offer from a club in Switzerland.

Bolton are working on a few other fronts and confident they can add further to the squad before the players report back for pre-season testing at the end of the month.

Firm news on outgoing transfers, and in particular the future of last season’s top scorer Aaron Collins, should also materialise this week.

Though reports in Milton Keynes suggest a deal to sign the 28-year-old is nearly over the line, the reaction at the Bolton end has been more circumspect. Collins has been on holiday and should be in a position to clear up his future in the next few days.

Wanderers are also understood to be open to offers for some of their fringe players, including striker Dan Nlundulu, who spent last season on loan with Cambridge United, and midfielder Carlos Mendes Gomes, who started just two games in 2024/25.
