Dive into our latest Championship transfer round-up as the summer window re-opens and clubs like Sheffield United and Southampton start to make major moves.
After that brief closure, the summer transfer window is now wide open and clubs throughout the Championship will really start to pursue the deals they really want ahead of the new campaign.
We’ve already seen a handful of confirmed transfers for Preston North End and Watford’s incomings have looked strong, too.
But, in our new Championship transfer round-up on day one of the second window, we take a look at Sheffield United, Southampton, Norwich City and more.

Kyle Walker heading home as Sheffield United eye multiple deals
Yes, believe it or not, Sheffield United are hopeful of signing Kyle Walker. The only problem is, they’ll need Man City to either loan him out and pay his wages, or terminate his contract.
It remains to be seen whether that will actually happen, but one deal looking more likely for the Blades is Chris Mepham. United are tipped to beat Sunderland and Burnley to the Bournemouth defender’s signature this summer.
However, when it comes to Youssef Chermiti, Sheffield United may have to wait for a decision from Everton later in the window. They face competition from Stoke City for the young striker.
And, while we’re talking about young strikers in our Championship transfer round-up, there is still a chance Ryan One leaves Sheffield United this summer. He’s wanted by Liverpool, and will want guarantees of his game time at Bramall Lane before making a decision.
Southampton have plenty of irons in the fire, including Juma Bah
Southampton are making serious moves already as they prepare for life back in the second tier. Juma Bah is on their radar, having worked with Will Still previously, and could join on loan.
With Aaron Ramsdale likely to depart St. Mary’s, the Saints are looking at Christos Mandas as his replacement. The Lazio goalkeeper would cost £17m, though, which could prove to be an issue.
There’s also talk that Southampton have bid £4m for Lucas Cepeda. However, his club chairman at Colo-Colo has insisted there has been no contact just yet for the Chilean.
Another player they’re looking at is Elfsborg midfielder, Besfort Zeneli. The player himself has done nothing to play down the rumours, admitting he will chat to his agent in the near future.
Southampton are also in the race to sign Kaine Kesler-Hayden from Aston Villa. Coventry City were favourites to land the full-back, but the Saints and Middlesbrough are now involved.

Harry Darling will choose between Norwich City and Rangers
We broke the news a couple of weeks ago that Norwich City were interested in Harry Darling. Now, there’s a fresh development, as Rangers have entered the pursuit.
It’s thought the Canaries are still the top choice for Darling in England, but the lure of Russell Martin North of the border could prove decisive.
Norwich look more and more likely to lose Borja Sainz, with Napoli submitting bids for the Spaniard. However, Ben Knapper has rebuffed those approaches so far. It’s expected he will try to stand firm and get a better fee for his star man.
We’re likely to see plenty of Josh Sargent news in our Championship transfer round-up until a move transpires. The latest is that Leeds United are interested in Sargent, and have offered around £16.8m for the striker.
In terms of other players Liam Manning could sign, there’s a thought Norwich might be interested in Jason Knight at Bristol City. However, the expectation is that he would be too expensive and is more likely to go to a Premier League club.
Championship transfer round-up extra: West Brom, Wrexham, Middlesbrough latest
We conclude our Championship transfer round-up with a quick blitz on the best of the rest from the second tier.
First up, West Brom want to sign Harry Toffolo on a free transfer. However, they will face competition from a number of clubs including Celtic.
Wrexham transfer rumours will keep coming all summer, and Birmingham City keep fighting them for the same players, it seems. Now, they both want to sign Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United. They could also snap up Lewis Travis from Blackburn Rovers for £2m as he refuses to sign a new contract.
Middlesbrough will likely lose two of their top players this summer. First up, Hayden Hackney has been given a £20m price tag, as per our sources. Meanwhile, Premier League clubs like Rav ven den Berg, but a Bundesliga switch is more probable now.
Finally, Japhet Tanganga could be leaving Millwall. Crystal Palace are keen, but the defender would prefer to move to Germany or France. If he does go, we’ve put together a list of alternatives Millwall could sign to replace him.
