Sandro Tonali sends clear Newcastle United transfer message amid Juventus interest

Sandro Tonali has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United, with Juventus said to be interested.

Newcastle United are in no mood to sell this summer. The message from the top is clear, add not subtract. However, that hasn’t stopped near limitless links to exits for many of the Magpies’ stars.

First it was Alexander Isak. Then when that talk was quelled attention moved on to Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento. And, as will undoubtedly be a common occurrence in future windows, Sandro Tonali.

The talk goes on and on, and as fans, Geordies need to grow a thick skin, because until Newcastle hit the top tier of clubs in European football - the absolute aim of chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan - then good players will always be linked further up football’s food chain.

Tonali talk has been rife this summer, despite holding little foundation. The player is happy, has said so very recently, and the club has no need or intention to sell. It’s a no brainer, really. But the talk in Italy has always been of AC Milan interest, and now, this summer, Juventus.

But, finally, as the window reopens, talk in Tonali’s homeland is now of Juve walking away from Tonali interest and instead turning their attention elsewhere, with the player sending the ‘message’ he will not leave St James’ Park.

A TMW report states Tonali sent a ‘clear and definitive no’ to the Bianconeri - although it does say, only for now. Juve have now turned their attentions to £50m Atalanta man Ederson, once linked with NUFC, and Inter’s Davide Frattesi.

Sandro Tonali transfer: Newcastle United midfielder addresses future

A fortnight ago, Tonali discussed why he won’t be leaving Newcastle in a hurry, although he did admit he misses home, a touch. He told Sky Sport Italia: "I'm happy where I am now. I’ve found people who care about me, and I care about them. I don’t want to break any of the bonds I’ve built.

“I’ve had a lot of thoughts every day, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”

“Sometimes, when I am away from Italy for a long time or during long breaks, I do miss coming home a bit, but I always come back with the national team and I always give my best,” Tonali added.

“There’s a group here that wants to be together and needs to be here, united. There’s a desire to face these ten days as a real team, staying close and trying not to make things harder for ourselves. That’s often where the teams struggle, and we’re trying to keep things simple.”

Tonali wedding

After finishing international duty, it’s all eyes on wedding bells for Tonali and his soon-to-be wife, Juliette Pastore.

According to Pastore, the pair are set to wed in their homeland on July 1 - a date she revealed during an interview with NUFC TV earlier this year.
