Newcastle United have issued Manchester City with a fresh warning to back off on Tino Livramento.

As reported by Chronicle Live on June 7, Newcastle are determined to hold on to a player they see as one of their big stars. The good news is that United are firmly protected on Livramento with the 22-year-old tied down to a deal until 2028.

That leaves Man City to either step back or conjure up an astronomical offer to attempt to lure Livramento to the Etihad Stadium. Livramento's presence at the Under-21 European Championships is not exactly helping Newcastle at the moment, with the full-back in the shop window as the Three Lions' star player so far.

But there is a steely determination to fight off any interest from both the club and Eddie Howe, given the ex-Chelsea youth's importance on Tyneside. Livramento told Chronicle Live that he was happy at Newcastle and said: "I knew that they [Newcastle] were a big club when I joined. They were already in the Champions League the summer when I arrived.

"So even that was a massive thing for me. To win anything for this club has been a massive achievement, and long may it continue.

"You see what it means to them. They come to the games, but across the city, you see that everybody here supports the club, and it was great to bring a cup home for them."

The only big question for Newcastle boss Howe will be where to field Livramenton next season with the youngster impressing as a flying wing-back for England on the left, but his primary position at United as a right-back.
