Edwin van der Sar has put forward his two cents on the future of four first-team players under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford amid the summer transfer window.
The 2025 summer window has been divided into two parts and it had officially opened from 1st June after the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season in May.
The Red Devils wasted no time in the first phase of the window in June, with Manchester United signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for a £62.5m transfer fee.
The window initially closed on 10th June ahead of the reformatted FIFA Club World Cup’s start on 14th June, with the tournament being held in the United States.
However, the window has officially reopened from Monday and Deadline Day for clubs will be held on 1st September amid the 2025-26 Premier League season.
Ruben Amorim is expected to have a busy summer transfer window at Old Trafford after the Red Devils’ struggles in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

Edwin van der Sar reveals his feelings on Man Utd’s transfer dealings for Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford
Manchester United limped to a 15th-place standing in the table under Ruben Amorim last season, which was the Red Devils’ worst finish in the Premier League era.
The Red Devils’ poor run of form in the league and United’s defeat in the Europa League final has left the Premier League club without European football for next season.
Amorim inherited the majority of his United first-team squad from former Ajax and Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag after he arrived at Old Trafford last November.
Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October after a poor start to the Premier League season and Amorim left Sporting CP to replace the Dutchman.
According to The Sun newspaper, Edwin van der Sar has admitted that he feels that the Red Devils need to add a new striker to Amorim’s first-team side this summer.
When asked about United’s transfer business, he said: “They’re on the right track.
“I think they’re signing a more experienced striker, maybe another one on the way.”

Edwin van der Sar’s position on four Man Utd stars includes his prediction for Alejandro Garnacho under Ruben Amorim
Edwin van der Sar has welcomed the arrival of Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu during the January transfer window under United manager Amorim.
The 54-year-old United legend added that he would reintegrate Antony at Old Trafford after his spell at Real Betis, but he knows it might not be “realistic.”
Van der Sar was not optimistic for Alejandro Garnacho either and he could see the 20-year-old Spain-born attacker being offloaded from Old Trafford.
“The two players they signed in the winter break [Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven] are good, so it should be fine and give the faith to the manager,” he explained.
“Maybe [Alejandro] Garnacho is going to go. I would say bring Antony back, but I’m not sure if that’s realistic.”
Alejandro Garnacho’s future at United has been plunged into doubt in recent weeks after his relationship with Amorim fractured near the end of last season.
