Manchester United and England legend Sir David Beckham hasn’t thought twice about one key decision after he received a knighthood and earned his title of ‘Sir.’
Sir David Beckham was named in The King’s Birthday Honours for 2025 last week and the 50-year-old Manchester United legend was knighted by King Charles III.
The former England and United superstar received his knighthood for services to sport and charity and he had been linked with receiving the honour for some time.
Beckham has become the fourth United legend to have been handed a knighthood, following in the same footsteps as England and Red Devils icon Sir Bobby Charlton.
The ex-England captain had previously received an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) award from Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 amid his prolific playing career.
Beckham’s knighthood from the King came after his notable charity work, including with The King’s Foundation and his role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

The former United and Real Madrid winger was asked if he had “changed his passport” after earning the title of ‘Sir’ from his knighthood.
However, Beckham showed class by laughing off the suggestion and keeping it real with the “emotional” rollercoaster of a week that it had been for him and his family.
Speaking on DAZN, he said: “No, definitely haven’t [changing his passport name].
“But it’s been an emotional week, I must admit. For me and for my family. Yeah, it’s obviously very special.
“It’s a huge honour, but one that has been shared with myself and my family and so, yeah, it’s been emotional.”
