Report: Pep boost as league champions would much prefer to sign Man City star over £70m Man…

Manchester City are currently in Miami for the Club World Cup, but transfer speculation continues in the background.

Pep Guardiola’s side were very busy last week, with four new players arriving.

Rayan Ait-Nouri joined from Wolves, and then Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki came in from Chelsea and Lyon, respectively.

Tijjani Reijnders was then announced as a new signing from AC Milan.

So, an active start. But it will likely mean that players now start to leave.

We have already seen Kevin De Bruyne complete a move to Napoli – and the Italian giants have eyes on bringing another star from City to reunite with the Belgian.

According to The Sun, Scudetto winners Napoli are looking for a new wide player – and their search has taken them to Manchester.

Apparently, Napoli like both Jack Grealish from Manchester City, and Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

They do not have the capacity to sign both, and it’s stated that Grealish – who is badly missed by Erling Haaland at the Club World Cup right now – is the player they would prefer to sign.

City want £45 million for Grealish for a permanent sale, whereas Manchester United have slapped a £70 million asking price on Garnacho.

Napoli know Garnacho would be the better long-term prospect. But seemingly, United’s asking price does not match their own valuation of the Argentine.

Napoli are said to be keen to reunite Grealish with De Bruyne, a player he adores and even joined City to play alongside.

Napoli would be a great move for Grealish

The decline of Grealish in recent times has been sad to see.

Ultimately, he needs to leave City to get his career back on track, having fallen by the wayside.

A move to Napoli could potentially be a great choice for him.

Appearances – 157

Goals – 17

Assists – 23

Trophies – 7

The 29-year-old would obviously know De Bruyne, and there are other former Premier League players in the squad such as Scott McTominay, Romelu Lukaku, Phillip Billing and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

What has happened with McTominay over the last year or so may be especially intriguing to Grealish.

He was sold to them by United, and is now a cult hero at the club having shone in his first season.

Going to Napoli could just give him a new lease of life, so hopefully something can be arranged for him to go there.
