Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly ready to hand Jack Grealish a much-needed exit from Manchester City, unless his departure is scuppered by developments at Manchester United.
The former Aston Villa captain seems certain to move on this summer following a series of Pep Guardiola snubs at the Etihad.
Grealish was conspicuously absent from City's pool of players for the Club World Cup currently being held in the US following limited playing time in the Premier League last season.
No bids have so far surfaced for Grealish's services, meaning a loan move may be the most feasible scenario for his impending exit, especially as he is said to be on £350,000 a week at City.
Everton have shown some interest, but it is now claimed by The Sun that Napoli are ready to stump up about £45m to secure Grealish's signature.
They are said to be looking to pair him with Kevin De Bruyne, who recently accepted a two-year contract at Napoli after being released by City.
Under contract with City until 2027, the 29-year-old Grealish has been linked with several clubs in recent weeks, including Villa, who sold him to City for a British record £100m four years ago.
However, hopes of a move to Napoli could yet be dashed if the Italians, who took Premier League duo Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour last summer, opt to recruit United winger Alejandro Garnacho instead.
The Argentinian is also on their radar, and perceived by some as a sounder long-term investment due to his younger age at just 20.
His future at Old Trafford hangs in the balance following apparent discord with manager Ruben Amorim. Reflecting on a disappointing season and his reduced playing time in the Europa League final, Garnacho expressed his frustrations on social media, posting: "It's hard for everyone. The season was s***, both now losing the final tonight, and in the league, where we didn't beat anyone, that's the truth."
