Vitor Pereira could be temped to quit Wolves for one of many top clubs as Benfica accelerate a deal with a “huge offer”.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the chance to manage Benfica is a “huge” opportunity for the 56-year-old.

Pereira, who has not managed in the Premeira Liga since leaving Porto in 2013, is believed to be interested in a return to his home country.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 14 April that Wolves are preparing showdown talks with Pereira after his impressive start to life in the Black Country.

The boss replaced Gary O’Neil at Molineux in December and led his side to safety with relative ease by picking up ten wins from his 22 league games in charge.

However, with just one year remaining on his current contract, fears are growing that he could be tempted to leave Wolves after just six months in charge.

Vitor Pereira to seek assurances over Wolves future

Brown explained that Pereira will assess the situation at Wolves before making a decision amid ongoing concerns about the club’s transfer market activity.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, has insisted the manager could seek assurances that key departures will be replaced.

“*Pereira will be tempted by the interest from Benfica,*” he told Football Insider.

“He will know whether he thinks he can continue the job he’s done at Wolves into next season.

“Benfica are a huge club and could give him the opportunity to go back and manage in his own country, so that’s always something to consider.

“There’s a bit of an unstable feeling about Wolves at the moment.

“They’ve lost Cunha, they’ve lost Ait-Nouri and the manager will know if there are more to follow.

“So I’m sure he’ll seek assurances from the board about what he will be able to do.

“If they’re going to spend to replace all these players, perhaps he’ll want to stay, but it looks like it could be a difficult summer for them.

“It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he walked away to take that job with a huge offer on the table.”

Despite speculation surrounding the manager’s future, the Midlands club are putting plans in place to bolster their squad during the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on 11 June that Wolves have joined the race for Vladimir Coufal on a free transfer following his departure from West Ham.

Everton and Fulham are also believed to be considering moves for the right-back, while newly-promoted trio Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland are also interested.

Wolves are in the market for a new right-back as Nelson Semedo is set to leave the club, as Football Insider revealed Galatasaray want to sign Semedo.
