'Move on': 'Sensational' Liverpool player told to leave the club after what's happened recently

Liverpool are making a major statement this summer as they look to strengthen their squad off the back of winning the Premier League title.

The Reds have already signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, and Milos Kerkez is also close to joining Liverpool.

The biggest statement signing comes in the form of a record-breaking transfer for Florian Wirtz. Liverpool have agreed a £117m fee for Wirtz, with the player expected to be officially announced soon.

However, the arrival of the German could signal the end of the road for one current Liverpool player.

Harvey Elliott told to leave Liverpool after recent signings

Harvey Elliott has seen himself lose his place in the Liverpool team following the arrival of Arne Slot.

The 22-year-old has found it hard to break into the first team ahead of Dominik Szoboszlai, who was signed in 2023. And the arrival of Wirtz would further reduce his playing time at the club.

Tony Cascarino has now urged the young England ace to move on from Liverpool in search of regular playing time. Discussing Elliott’s future on the Weekend Sports Breakfast, he said (via talkSPORT):

“I mean I’m interested in Harvey Elliott, one that stands out for me, because I do think it’s time for him to move on from Liverpool. I just think because of the signings they have made.

“It would be great for him to have a great Under-21 [tournament]. I think every time I’ve seen him put on a shirt for Liverpool and with the Under-21s, I think Harvey Elliott’s done well in every game

“He’s really enthusiastic, one of those guys who always wants the ball in any situation. You can give it to him.

“And he [Elliott] has handled himself brilliantly. He’s not thrown his toys out of the pram at any stage.

“I’m sure he’d be disappointed with what has happened with Liverpool with the amount of game time he got. But it’s a great opportunity with the Under-21s to have a really good tournament.”

Harvey Elliott hints at leaving Liverpool amid interest from Newcastle and Wolves

Elliott has already hinted about a potential move away from Anfield this summer, admitting that while he loves Liverpool, he might have to be mature about his situation and make a decision that would be best for his career.

Speaking to the media while on duty for England U21 during the UEFA Euro U21s, Elliott told Hayters TV: “I think it’s just a situation that me and you know the team on on my behalf have to have a conversation about.

“You know I’m coming into an age now where you know I’m 22 I’m going to be 23 next season and you know I don’t really want to be wasting years of my career because it’s a short career. You don’t know what’s going to happen like injuries and things and you know it could shorten it.”

“I think it’s a situation that as I’ve said before I need to reflect. I need to see if you know I’m content in doing what I’m doing and how can I improve you know as a player.

“That’s the most important thing. That’s the main thing really. I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself and the best player I can be.

“And if that’s to go somewhere else, then you know, it’s a decision that I’m going to have to make. And you know, I just need to see what happens.”

Several clubs have expressed interest in signing the ‘sensational‘ Liverpool ace, including Newcastle and Wolves.

Newcastle are reportedly plotting a move for Elliott, while Wolves are another club interested in Elliott, as they look for a replacement for Matheus Cunha, who left the club to join Manchester United.

Liverpool are also open to selling Elliott, with reports suggesting that they even tried to use him in a player-plus-cash deal for Wirtz.

With both the player and club ready to part ways with each other, it remains to be seen which club Elliott ends up joining this summer.
