Andre Onana future decided

Manchester United are fully getting into their summer rebuild as the future of some Red Devils are in doubt, including Andre Onana.

The Cameroon international arrived at Old Trafford in 2023 for £47.2 million from Inter Milan under the reign of Erik ten Hag.

However, since then he’s been between the sticks for the Red Devils’ two worst Premier League campaigns on record, with his problematic goalkeeping being more apparent this season than last.

Admittedly, he wasn’t the only issue at Old Trafford last season, with the lack of a reliable striker and consistent injuries also contributing to the poor results.

Unfortunately for Onana however, he did lead the list of Premier League goalkeepers in the number of mistakes made directly resulting in a goal being conceded, which can’t be ignored.

Now, despite links with players like James Trafford and Emiliano Martinez to come in as Onana’s successor, the Cameroon international might not be done just yet.

Manchester Evening News has reported that despite his issues and transfer links, it’s believed that Onana will have another season at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old is under contract until 2028, giving him three more years at the club, with an option to extend for a further 12-months.

The report explains that Ruben Amorim holds a “warm working relationship” with the goalkeeper so he’s expected to stay with The Red Devils.

It’s also understood that Onana is using his international ties to try and lure Cameroon teammate Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford, which is no doubt supporting his relationship with Amorim, helping him to sign the star attacker.

However, if Andre Onana goes on to have another season like the last two, it’s unlikely that he’ll find himself seeing out his fill contract with United.
