Newcastle United star Dan Burn took to the stage with the Carabao Cup at St James’ Park during Sam Fender’s show on Sunday evening.

Just when you thought the celebrations had cooled down, the Magpies found a way to ramp them back up again.

Dan Burn was a hero for Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final, scoring a terrific header to open the scoring at Wembley Stadium and help the club win their first trophy since 1969. It has been a memorable few months for the 33-year-old, who made his England debut, won a trophy and helped his boyhood club qualify for the Champions League once again.

There is no doubt that Burn has solidified his legendary status at Newcastle for his heroics, which have been lapped up by the fans. Burn confirmed he would attend Sam Fender’s St James’ Park gig, and was spotted in the stands at his first of three nights.

It was a big surprise when Burn took to Sam Fender’s stage with the Carabao Cup, but the defender has now taken to social media to reflect on the moment, which received a brilliant response from one of his teammates.

Joe Willock calls Dan Burn a ‘legend’ after Sam Fender gig appearance

Burn signed a new deal at Newcastle in May, which could keep him on Tyneside for another two years if the club decide to exercise an option to extend his deal next year.

Having become a hero on Tyneside, Burn has announced his intentions to retire as a Newcastle player, with his dream of playing for his boyhood club already realised.

Burn is still expected to be a big part of Eddie Howe’s plans next season, but the defender is now taking the post-season break to recharge his batteries and take in more love from the fans.

Newcastle’s players will take the next few weeks off before returning to pre-season training ahead of their games against Celtic and a tour of Asia.

Dan Burn named Newcastle United’s Player of the Season by teammates

When Newcastle needed a hero, Burn stepped up to the challenge and showed that age is just a number and that he is still more than capable of performing to a high level.

Burn will likely play in the majority of Newcastle’s Champions League games next season, despite Howe’s eagerness to sign a new centre-back this summer. Sven Botman will no doubt be fighting with Burn for a place in the starting XI, though.

Many fans will look back on this season with fond memories and will realise how much of an impact Burn had on the team throughout the campaign. He had to take on a lot of responsibility with Botman injured and Lloyd Kelly not performing to a high standard – he passed with flying colours.

In an interview with the club, several players, including Guimaraes, Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon, named Burn as Newcastle’s Player of the Season, with the reasoning being that he had been “massive” for their fortunes throughout the campaign.
