Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kauã Santos has been asked about Manchester United and Bayern Munich during an interview with Die Welt.
The Brazilian spent three years at Flamengo’s academy but didn’t need to even make his debut for the first team before being snatched away to Europe. Eintracht signed him in 2023 and he was initially part of their reserve team.
Santos was promoted to Eintracht Frankfurt’s senior team at the start of this season. He kept three clean sheets and conceded 19 goals from 14 games, and it was enough for him to be linked to Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
The 22-year-old’s season was cut short in April after he suffered a knee injury. He’s been working on his recovery between Germany and Brazil and is eagerly awaiting his return to the pitch.
Last October, the stopper extended his contract until 2030. Die Welt pointed out to the South American that his skills have attracted Manchester United interest. When responding to that, the goalkeeper insisted he wants to repay Eintracht Frankfurt’s trust.
“The people in charge in Frankfurt have shown enormous trust in me. They wanted to continue working with me before these rumours even surfaced,” he said.
“They still have a lot of faith in me here, so it was clear to me that I wanted to extend my contract. I want to establish myself as a goalkeeper, perform well, and achieve as much as possible.”
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is 39 years old and has a contract until 2026. The newspaper asked the Eintracht Frankfurt player whether he wants to succeed Neuer at Bayern.
“[laughs] Manuel is a role model for every goalkeeper. Every goalkeeper who comes along now has learned from him,” Santos explained.
“I’m not busy with anything else at the moment, because my entire focus is on Eintracht Frankfurt.”
