Aston Villa transfer target can return to England for £30m this summer

Aston Villa linked centre half Fikayo Tomori will be granted a move away from AC Milan this summer, and he will be expected to have a number of options and transfer proposals on the table when he considers where his future lies.

Tomori, who is Canadian born but has represented England at various age groups and in the senior side, joined Chelsea as a child and he made 27 appearances for the Blues before leaving for good. While in England, he had loan spells at Hull City, Brighton and Hove Albion and, perhaps more famously, with Derby County under Frank Lampard, in a season which involved being defeated by Villa in the play-off final.

The Stamford Bridge academy product, who still has two years remaining on his most recent contract, joined the Rossoneri initially on loan in the summer of 2020 but then made that move a permanent arrangement a summer later. He has since made 177 appearances for Milan, contributing seven goals, but his time could be up this summer.

Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham were all linked in January of this year and Spurs could come calling again for Tomori, who will have the opportunity to return to England should he wish to. Reports in Italy suggest that Milan will demand as much as £30m for the defender, who has five England caps.

He could, though, remain in Serie A; Dusan Vlahovic is set to leave Juventus this summer and there is talk in Italy of a potential swap deal being conducted between the two clubs. Milan, who had Kyle Walker and Tammy Abraham on loan last year and also have Ruben Loftus-Cheek on their books, are also interested in bringing Kieran Trippier to the San Siro.

Villa, meanwhile, need another defender. They loaned Axel Disasi in place of the sold Diego Carlos last January, but they will begin the new season as thing stand with senior trio Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres on their books. They released fringe player Kortney Hause this spring but have added teenager Yasin Ozcan to their squad.
