Caleb Williams-Bears pairing together in most ironic rankings imaginable

Last month, the Chicago Bears and the NFL got the shocking news regarding their quarterback Caleb Williams' previous comments about wanting to play for the Minnesota Vikings. Now the marriage between Williams and the Bears hopes to be on solid ground.

FOX Sports NFL reporter Henry McKenna shared his list of the best quarterback-team marriages around the league. Just making the top 11 are Williams and the Bears, as the team has shown its commitment to Williams with its offseason moves.

"Let me just state the obvious: A marriage is about commitment.

The Bears are deeply, deeply committed to Williams in 2025. Chicago shelled out big money to bring in offensive guru Ben Johnson, who rejected several head coaching job interviews in hopes of finding the right situation. The Bears rebuilt their offensive line to better protect Williams and establish the run game that is so crucial in Johnson’s system. And finally, the Bears have invested in the receiver position with DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III arriving over the past three years. Williams’ rookie season was a disappointment, but not always because of him. So Chicago recognized it was at fault and did everything to rectify the issue. That's what a supportive partner does."

The irony is there, but this could end up working out for Chicago and Williams

It's easy to see the irony when Williams initially had a place in mind to go to and his father not wanting him to play in Chicago. From an outside prespective, it could be easy to see that the relationship between Williams and the Bears started on much shaky ground.

Entering the present time, the work the Bears have put into reconstructing the offensive line and giving Williams young offensive weapons around him means that Chicago is committed to Williams. OTAs last week showed that Williams feels the same way, as he showed up to workouts with mostly rookies when it was voluntary.

Williams is a working progress as he needs to improve on quick decision making and small mechanical parts of the quarterback position. His new head coach Johnson has been able to help with that as while the coach is pushing him at practice, he will get the best out of Williams.

There might still be concerns regarding Williams and the Bears as fans need to see progress on the field in his sophomore year in the NFL, but this relationship has gotten past the rocky honeymoon phase and is now into the most important stretch of keeping the spark there.
