Rasmus Hojlund is ‘first-choice’ for European club, they’re ready to sell their striker to make it happen

Manchester United’s difficult-to-shift striker Rasmus Hojlund might have a team for him who’s made him their top target, to the extent that they’re ready to sell their striker to get him.

After a season to forget for Rasmus Hojlund, he exited the list of players who were untouchable despite his young age.

Interest from Italy, mainly from Inter Milan gathered pace and even though Hojlund said he wanted to stay, his future at Old Trafford looks far from certain.

Amidst the speculation, one team is reportedly ready to sell their striker in pursuit of the Dane, who is their “top choice”.

Mehdi Taremi to be sold for Rasmus Hojlund

The transfer window could be about to come full circle for Manchester United since the striker they didn’t go for in place of Rasmus Hojlund, Mehdi Taremi, is now expendable.

Taremi was a serial goalscorer for FC Porto which is when United were linked to him but a move was never made.

They instead took the long-term view and invested heavily in Hojlund, a player who could be set to replace Taremi at Inter now.

Sky Italia reports that Inter are ready to sell Taremi as new Inter manager Cristian Chivu has made Hojlund his top target up top.

The report states that Inter will ramp up their pursuit of Manchester United’s striker once the Club World Cup is over, as the transfer window has re-opened now.

Inter’s links to Hojlund aren’t new, but this is as firm a proclamation as it gets about how much the Danish forward is rated by the new management in Italy.

Man Utd can get creative with Inter for Hojlund

Unlike the likes of Marcus Rashford or Jadon Sancho, who are sure to trouble United the whole window due to their wages, Hojlund has a market and a team willing to take on his wages.

As is pretty much always the case, however, United are selling from an extremely weak position since the player is coming off a poor season.

Still, his age profile and history in Serie A make him attractive to Inter, where United have seen the rebirth of many ex-players.

There is a good chance that Hojlund finds his stride in Italy which is why United should be open to creative solutions for the player.

A loan with an obligation to buy (no penalty fee to break it!) should be on the table with a sell-on clause or a creative solution like Betis’ for Antony could be good if he flourishes at Inter.

The striker can’t be blamed for a lack of effort but sometimes a change of scenario is all that’s needed. Hojlund can find that at Inter.
