Everton look set to offer former Manchester United star Fred a route back to the Premier League.

Fred has been away from English football for the last two years, but could be in line to return to the Premier League this summer, with David Moyes urging The Friedkin Group to bring the 32-year-old to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Brazilian’s performances during his Old Trafford stint were inconsistent at times.

However, Fred has enjoyed something of a resurgence during his time at Fenerbahçe, and now seems destined for a return to the Premier League, if Moyes and Everton get their way.

Fenerbahçe are exploring potential replacements for Fred

Fenerbahçe have placed an asking price of just over £15million on Fred. However, that has done little to deter Everton in their pursuit of the midfielder.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Everton have made a £15.3million offer for the 32-cap international [Fanatik], who would provide invaluable experience and energy in the middle of the park.

It has been reported that Fenerbahçe are reluctant to sell Fred this summer, as he is viewed as an integral part of José Mourinho’s team. However, it looks as though their stance may now have altered.

As reported by Fotospor (15 June), Fenerbahçe are lining up potential midfield signings.

Mourinho’s side are understood to be eyeing a move for Napoli star Frank Anguissa, who would provide an ideal replacement for Fred if he were to seal his move to Everton.

Everton handed renewed hope to sign Fred after Fenerbahçe news

Everton have caused something of a shock with their unexpected pursuit of Fred, but it looks as though Moyes’ wishes could be about to come true following these latest developments.

Although the Toffees had placed an offer for the midfielder, with Fenerbahçe intent on keeping hold of Fred, it seemed unlikely that a deal would be on the table for the Merseysiders.

However, with the Turkish giants contemplating possible replacements, that surely leaves the door open for Moyes and Co. to step up their pursuit and force through a deal.

Fred was criticised at times at United, but is very adept at breaking up the play in the middle of the park and possesses an energy that can drive a team forward.

With Abdoulaye Doucoure leaving at the end of his contract, Everton will need reinforcements in their midfield ranks, and Fred could be the ideal candidate to step into the shoes of their departing star.
