Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento starred in England Under-21s’ 0-0 draw against Slovenia Under-21s in the group stages of the European Championships.
The youngster is the only player in the team to have a senior cap, but he appears to have used that experience to his benefit during the tournament in Romania.
Tino Livramento was brilliant for England’s Under-21s in their opening game against the Czech Republic, bagging an assist and looking lively at left-back. Manchester City fans are desperate to sign Livramento after his performance in England’s opener in the tournament, with some even saying that former Newcastle United man Hugo Viana should pay whatever Eddie Howe wants for him.
Despite that, Newcastle do not want to sell Livramento and see him as a key player for the next several years. Livramento has claimed he is happy at Newcastle, citing their inclusion in the Champions League as a reason he joined them in 2023.
Now, with Dan Ashworth watching on, here is what the national media said about Livramento’s latest performance in England’s 0-0 draw against Slovenia.

Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento impresses for England Under-21s despite goalless draw
Livramento may feel hard done by over the fact that he was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the England senior international games against Andorra and Senegal. However, Tuchel is still a big fan of Livramento and has spoken to the 22-year-old in private over his future with the Three Lions.
Additionally, Lee Carsley has backed Livramento to be successful with England in the future, so he has recieved the vote of confidence from two key figures in the national setup.
The defender has also received praise from the national media, who were seemingly pleased with his performance.

GOAL.com rated Livramento 7/10 and said: “Showed great pace in attack to reach the byline a couple of times and was rarely beaten at the back.”
Meanwhile, GiveMeSport also gave Livramento a 7/10, saying: “Looked bright down the flank and good things tended to come from him.”
The Newcastle man is sure to have impressed former Magpies sporting director Ashworth, who was spotted at the game on Sunday afternoon.
Tino Livramento continues to perform well at left-back away from Newcastle United
Having played well there in their opening game of the tournament, Carsley selected Livramento to play left-back against Slovenia.
It is a position Livramento played in from March to the end of the season for Newcastle, and he cannot seem to avoid it on international duty either. Livramento replaced the injured Lewis Hall at left-back for Newcastle and looked comfortable in the position, despite being on his weaker foot.
Having played so well, Newcastle fans think left-back is Livramento’s best position, rather than as the right-back they originally signed him as.
Additionally, Jacob Murphy called Livramento the best left-back in the world during a recent Q&A, showing how much he and other Newcastle players value him there.
With Hall set to return to Newcastle’s squad for pre-season, Livramento is expected to return to right-back for the 2025/26 campaign.
