Italian Champions Weigh Up£45M Transfer Raid With Man City And Man United Outcasts Top Of Their List

Napoli are considering whether to bid for either Manchester City winger Jack Grealish or Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, according to reports.

The Serie A champions have £45m burning in their pocket and The Sun claim that the two outcasts are currently top of their list of transfer targets.

Grealish is believed to be the favoured option, and City would be prepared to sell him for the amount that Napoli are willing to pay.

However, Garnacho would be the better long-term investment as he is nearly a decade younger than Grealish.

What’s stopping the Italian club from tabling a bid for the Argentinian international is United’s asking price which is said to be as high as £70m. There is also interest from Chelsea, which could complicate matters further.

Grealish does not have a future at the Etihad

The 29-year-old was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup, which suggests that he will be sold between now and the end of the transfer window.

One of the biggest issues that could still prevent Grealish from leaving is his wages. He currently earns £230,000 a week, which is not a salary most teams are prepared to pay.

Are Man City targeting a replacement?

There have been links to Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola in recent days but the France international does have interest from other Premier League clubs and there is no guarantee that PSG would be willing to let him go.

Manager Pep Guardiola does have Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Oscar Bobb and Phil Foden who can all play out wide if required, while new signing Rayan Cherki can also be deployed as a winger, in addition to being used as a No.10.
