As the dust settles on the Premier League campaign, one which saw Liverpool romp to the title and Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton return to the Championship where they will face Derby County, attentions turn towards transfers.
The Rams secured their second tier status with a remarkable salvage operation inspired by John Eustace and a run of six wins from the final 11 games that saw them stay in the division.
Attention has now turned to building a squad for next season, one that will keep Derby clear of any such bother and do so on a budget. They have already retained the services of centre back Matt Clarke but have work to do in virtually every department in Eustace's team.
Like most Championship clubs there will be a scramble for the players released by Premier League outfits, many of whom offer either experience or potential for the future. City's Jamie Vardy is very much in the former camp, as are Brentford's Ben Mee and Burnley's Nathan Redmond.
We've already seen Marcus Harness released by Ipswich and quickly sign for Huddersfield Town in League One.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace have parted company with left-back/winger Jeffrey Schlupp. Aged 32, the former Leicester star and title winner with the Foxes, is a free agent looking for another club this summer after eight years at Selhurst Park.
