Fourth Premier League club joins Alejandro Garnacho transfer race, Man Utd’s new asking price funds Victor Osimhen

A fourth Premier League club has joined the race for Alejandro Garnacho this summer as Manchester United set an astonishing asking price for the winger.

Manchester United are looking to put an emphasis on sales this summer as Rúben Amorim restructures his attacking line this summer.

While it has been well known that those such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are set to leave, it emerged after the Europa League final that Alejandro Garnacho was another player on the chopping block, too.

Following the loss against Tottenham in Bilbao, Garnacho went public with his dismay at only playing 20 minutes, to which Amorim responded by telling the winger in front of his teammates, “You better pray that you can find a club to sign you.”

Garnacho has played 144 times for United, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists under the management of Ralf Rangnick, Erik ten Hag, and Amorim.

With Garnacho being a very promising young winger whose time at Old Trafford has come to a natural end after falling out with Amorim, he is of interest to a plethora of sides across Europe.

According to MailSport, with Chelsea’s and Aston Villa’s interest well-documented, another club that have joined the race to sign the Argentina international is Tottenham Hotspur, who are now keeping tabs on the winger.

This comes after reports from Argentina claiming that Arsenal are also eyeing Garnacho, and Atletico Madrid have also been credited with interest, alongside Serie A champions Napoli.

However, MailSport also report that, amid all the interest in Garnacho, United have now chosen to put a £70 million price tag on the player as they aim to secure as much as they can to fund further signings.

Garnacho’s sale could fund Osimhen’s move

United have already announced the signing of Matheus Cunha and are confident in securing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as their second transfer of the summer, and are looking to sign a striker to add to Amorim’s new winger duo.

United have previously expressed interest in both Victor Gyökeres and Victor Osimhen, but the former has made it clear that he would prefer to sign for Arsenal, while the latter’s wage demands of around £350,000 to £400,000 a week are too expensive for United to offer.

However, should Garnacho be sold for around the £70 million fee United are asking for, this could change very quickly, and if the club can find a middle ground with Osimhen regarding his wage package, Garnacho’s sale could be the difference.

United are clearly okay with spending around £60 million on a striker this summer, provided they are a high-calibre signing, and Garnacho’s £70 million fee could go a long way to helping United fund Osimhen’s £63 million release clause.

The Nigerian international is said to see United as a “dream” destination this summer, although he is also being courted by Saudi sides and other teams across Europe.
