Tottenham eyeing Man Utd star as Bryan Mbeumo alternative, they are handing Rúben Amorim huge favour

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on a Manchester United star, which could hand Ruben Amorim a huge favour in his pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo.

It has been no secret that Manchester United are pursuing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as they attempt to heavily reinforce their struggling frontline.

This deal seemed all but done until Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur sacked Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager was then replaced by Thomas Frank, the former Bees’ boss.

As has been recently reported, Frank’s appointment seems to have stirred up the Mbeumo saga, with the North London side looking to potentially reunite the duo in North London.

This being said, Tottenham could be eyeing a move for one of United’s stars as a potential alternative to Mbeumo, which could kill two birds with one stone for Ruben Amorim.

Tottenham and Newcastle eye up Rashford

With Marcus Rashford set to depart from his boyhood club this summer, many clubs have started to look at the possibility of bringing in the 27-year-old winger.

As reported by CaughtOffside, sources close to Rashford understand that he remains “out of favour” with Amorim ahead of the new season.

The talented winger is understood to be willing to take a pay cut to force a move away from Old Trafford, as his current £325,000 per week would cause problems to many clubs chasing his signature.

Aston Villa are still open to the possibility of signing the Englishman permanently, but they are set to face competition from Tottenham and Newcastle.

Rashford also has many suitors outside of England, reportedly, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Saudi Pro League clubs all eyeing the attacker.

Rashford’s departure could welcome Mbeumo signing

If Tottenham are to ramp up their pursuit of Rashford, this could benefit United in more ways than one.

First of all, it would mean that United bring in an attractive sum of money that they can put towards their summer signings, such as Mbeumo, as the club want around £40 million for the English winger.

Secondly, and more importantly, it could mean that Tottenham see Rashford as an Mbeumo alternative, which would only benefit the Red Devils’ pursuit of the Cameroonian.

This tug-of-war will be interesting to watch develop in the coming weeks, and Amorim’s side will be hoping that their long-term servant can provide them with one more favour before he departs.
