Liverpool are proving why Mohamed Salah was right to extend Anfield stay - opinion

The Egyptian king shows no signs of slowing down after another sensational season.

The Reds’ transfer window has been full of positives and optimism so far, a much nicer situation than fans would have thought they would have been in only a few months ago.

The contracts of three big players were running down but they managed to keep all but one, with Trent Alexander-Arnold departing for Real Madrid.

However, with captain Virgil van Dijk and star player Mohamed Salah committing their futures to the club, things have only been looking up, with the Reds offering a clear statement of intent to the rest of the division.

Salah also revealed his main belief as to why he penned a new deal at Anfield and based on Liverpool’s season and last few weeks, it looks like it will all become true.

Mohamed Salah had belief that Liverpool would win more trophies

Picking up pieces of silverware is the goal for all players, but after winning it all, it can be quite hard to convince stars that the success is not over just yet.`

However, Liverpool appeared to have persuaded Salah that the best years are yet to come and that trophies will follow, the key reason why he signed a new contract.

“If I don’t believe that I would have not signed. I believe the team can win trophies,” the Egyptian told Liverpoolfc.com during an exclusive interview.

“With the support of the fans and the city, and the support they always give us in the games, I believe we can win many trophies in the next years.”

Now, after picking up the Premier League and going all-out in the transfer market, it looks like Liverpool are trying to make Salah’s beliefs come true and they are intending to stay at the pinnacle of English football.

Salah, and also van Dijk, must have had a clear indication that owners FSG were going to back Arne Slot this summer and aim to take the club to the next level, with this looking more likely than ever before.

What is next for Liverpool next season?

As every top club would say, the simple answer is that Liverpool will aim to win absolutely everything.

However, with the Reds finally getting to celebrate a Premier League triumph in front of supporters, the Champions League might be a little higher on the agenda.

This is the one that many players have not won and Liverpool are building a squad perfect for trying to go and win it, with the frustrations from their exit last season a key driving factor when going for it again.

Liverpool’s future is certainly exciting and all the signs are there to win a load more trophies next season, with it really not unrealistic to say that they could even win the quadruple.
