Barca hold ‘important’ Williams talks, Laporta assessing possibility of transfer

Nico Williams and Barcelona may just be moving closer together if the latest update on the situation proves accurate.

Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg has the latest on the situation and reports Barcelona have the “best chance” of landing Williams this summer.

The word is that “important new negotiations” have taken place and Joan Laporta is now deciding “whether a transfer is feasible and if Williams can be registered.”

Plettenberg also suggests that if Barca can make the numbers work they will press ahead with the transfer. He also adds that Hansi Flick is “determined” to land the Spain star.

Previous updates have claimed Laporta has had doubts over signing Williams, for several reasons, but his willingess to extend an olive branch and start talks may have changed the president’s mind.

Barcelona have been willing to spend big this summer - with Luis Diaz the top target - but it seems that the possibility of signing Williams from Athletic is starting to gain strength.
