Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis Trade Rumors Take Turn With Kevin Durant News

The Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns are going to be two of the most interesting teams to watch during the NBA offseason. Both teams are expected to be open to major moves as they look to make moves for different reasons.

For the Celtics, the direction will be to make a cost-cutting move or two. As for the Suns, Kevin Durant is expected to be moved. That isn't due to Phoenix wanting to cut ties, but rather that Durant might be ready to move on.

Could the two teams consider coming together on a potential trade?

While Boston isn't likely to have interest in Durant, perhaps the Suns could show interest in one of the players the Celtics are looking to move.

According to a new report from NBA insider Jake Fischer, there is interest from Phoenix in Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis. He also noted that the Suns are a team to watch when it comes to Myles Turner as well.

"I've also heard that Phoenix has done some background work on Kristaps Porziņģis with Boston known to be exploring its trade options up and down the roster," Fischer wrote. "Sources say you can likewise add Phoenix to the list of teams that had been hoping to elbow its way into Myles Turner's free agency this summer."

Porzingis is a very intriguing potential trade target for many teams around the NBA this offseason. When he's healthy, he's one of the most talented big men in the league.

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old center, he was not healthy much during the 2024-25 season. He played in just 42 games.

During those 42 games, Porzingis played well. He averaged 19.5 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.5 blocks. He also shot 48.3 percent from the floor and knocked down 41.2 percent of his three-point attempts.

Adding Porzingis would help fill the void left in a Durant deal. Perhaps the two teams could bring in a third team that would send Durant out in the same deal.

Either way, this is something to keep an eye on. Porzingis is a player who the Celtics would likely prefer to keep, but if the right deal comes along they would undoubtedly listen.

Fans of both teams should buckle up for what could be a very busy offseason.
