CLEVELAND, Ohio — Despite Jonnu Smith not showing face at Miami’s mandatory minicamp last week, that apparently doesn’t mean the tight end will be moving on.
Miami’s been in contact with teams about trading Smith, who’s in search of a new deal.
Smith joined the team in 2024 on a a two-year, $8.4 million contract.
And while coach Mike McDaniel has said the team isn’t looking to move Smith, it haven’t given him a new contract.
Smith’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, made an appearance on Miami’s WSVN and said the situation is “still fluid.”
“Nothing has been resolved yet,” Rosenhaus said, via C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald. “It’s still an ongoing situation.”
Smith, who turns 30 on Aug. 22, had his best career season in 2024 and made his first Pro Bowl.
The veteran tight end logged career-highs in receptions (80) and receiving yards (884), and tied a career mark in touchdowns (eight).
Miami just missed the playoffs, and Smith played an integral part in that with seven of his eight touchdowns between Weeks 12-18.
The Browns will take on the Dolphins on Sunday, Oct. 19 in Week 7. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
