Emile Heskey Warns £100m Arsenal Target To Be "Careful" About A Move Amid Chelsea, City And Liverpool Links

Former Premier League striker Emile Heskey has said that Aston Villa’s Morgan Rodgers should be “careful” about a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners are looking to sign more attacking talent this summer. They are likely to add a winger and a striker at least in order to boost their chances of winning the Premier League title next season.

One such winger who has been linked with a move to the Emirates is Aston Villa and England star Morgan Rodgers, who has also received interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Rodgers impressed for Unai Emery’s side last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 15 assists in all competitions. He has become one of the most exciting and electric wingers in the Premier League.

With that in mind, Arsenal are reportedly keeping an eye on Rodgers, who has been priced at a hefty £100m by Aston Villa due to the demand in him. But not everyone thinks that the 22-year-old moving to North London would be a good idea.

Heskey says Rodgers should avoid Arsenal move

Former Premier League striker Emile Heskey believes that it would be a bad personal decision for Rodgers to move to the Emirates, as he will likely get less reliable game time with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka to compete with.

Heskey told Prime Casino: “I think he needs to really be careful. He’s a huge asset for Villa, Right now he’s a fantastic player. But he’s got to choose wisely in the sense, I would stay at Villa if I was him, establish myself, play more football. Because if you go to a theoretically bigger club and you don’t play football, you’re wasting your talent.

“He’s got to play. I love the way that he plays. He plays with enthusiasm, he plays with freedom and he’s a very good player. So I would suggest he stays at Villa for another season at least.”

The Gunners more likely to target Real Madrid star

Rodgers isn’t the only winger that has been linked with a move to the Emirates. The Gunners’ ‘dream’ target at the position is reportedly Real Madrid star Rodrygo, who is expected to cost around £68m.

Reports have emerged saying that Saudi Pro League clubs Al Nassr and Al Hilal are due to offer around £110m to sign Rodrygo, however, it is unclear whether the Brazilian would be willing to move there this summer.

Aged 24, Rodrygo is undoubtedly one of the best wingers in the world. Last season, he made 30 La Liga appearances, scoring six goals and providing five assists.
