Romano Says £85M Rated Star Is "Still Talking" To 3 PL Clubs (Including Liverpool) About Summer Move

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike has not made a final decision on which team he wants to join despite interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Responding to a question about the Frenchman, Romano wrote in his GiveMeSport column that all three teams remain firmly in contention to sign the player:

“He’s considering all options and still talking to all these clubs [Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea]. No decision has been made yet.”

Frankfurt’s asking price is believed to be €100m (£85m) so it remains to be seen whether Arne Slot’s side or another club are willing to meet the valuation.

Liverpool will need to sell before they buy

The £116m outlay on Florian Wirtz means that the Reds will likely have to free up funds for Ekitike first. Darwin Nunez is reportedly available for transfer and the Uruguayan international’s departure would also create an opening up front. He is said to be attracting interest from both Napoli and AC Milan.

Jarell Quansah, Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota may be offloaded for the right price this summer as well.

Ekitike is not the only striker being targeted

Everyone knows that the Merseysiders are big fans of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but the likelihood of the Swedish international moving to Anfield is very low, especially after the Magpies qualified for the Champions League.

Alternatives such as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are also under consideration, but the former has pretty high wage demands, while the latter is said to be Arsenal’s top target.

At the moment, Ekitike seems like the most realistic option, but only if Nunez and/or other unwanted players are sold first.
