Chelsea vs LAFC - LIVE!
Chelsea begin their Club World Cup campaign against Los Angeles FC in Atlanta tonight. It’s less than three weeks since the Blues clinched their first trophy under Enzo Maresca in the Conference League final and they are already gearing up for another shot at major silverware across the Atlantic after a busy start to the summer transfer market.
New signings Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr and Dario Essugo will all be looking to make a swift impact in the inaugural expanded 32-team tournament in the USA, with Andrey Santos another eager to leave an impression after starring out on loan. Chelsea will be coming up against a familiar face this evening in Olivier Giroud, their former striker who will be tasked with spearheading LAFC’s attack at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.
The Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit - who also count the likes of Hugo Lloris among their ranks - were late additions to the Club World Cup, having beaten Club America in a play-off tie after Mexican side Club Leon were removed from the competition after failing to meet requirements on multi-club ownership.
