The Phoenix Suns have a new regime calling the shots, and now, first-year general manager Brian Gregory has been working hard to trade Kevin Durant. So far, the Suns’ trade offers for Durant have been underwhelming, but when a 15-time All-Star gets traded, there’s a possibility that a third or even fourth team is required to make salaries match.
Thus, according to [NBA insider Jake Fischer](https://marcstein.substack.com/p/orlando-memphis-kevin-durant-and?utm_campaign=email-post&r=3shtjf&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email), the Suns are reportedly looking into acquiring Boston Celtics one-time All-Star Kristaps Porzingis.
> “I’ve also heard that Phoenix has done some background work on Kristaps Porziņģis with Boston known to be exploring its trade options up and down the roster. Sources say you can likewise add Phoenix to the list of teams that had been hoping to elbow its way into Myles Turner’s free agency this summer.”

While the Suns are trying to find a trade partner for Durant, they’re also reportedly prioritizing the acquisition of a new starting center. That’s where Porzingis could come into play.
Yet, the Suns could simply be casting a lot of different lines in the water, trying to gauge how much it would cost to acquire different tiers of talent to solve their need for a new starting center once and for all.
As for Porzingis, he could be expendable as Boston looks to shed costs ahead of what could be a challenging season as Jayson Tatum recovers from his Achilles tear. Meanwhile, if Myles Turner does actually reach free agency, the Suns could try carving a path that allows them to make an offer, but they’d have to free up some salary cap space first.
