Report: Berta preparing bid to sign 'world-class' star for Arsenal, he wants to join with…

Arsenal are ready to make a move to sign Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, and he believes the Gunners would be an ideal destination for him, according to a report from TBR Football.

Hato is a versatile defender who came through the academy at Ajax. The 2006-born talent is capable of playing as a central defender and at left-back, featuring in both positions for club and country in recent years.

Coming through the ranks at Ajax, Hato is comfortable on the ball, as are many others who are developed by the Dutch outfit. This would, of course, suit Arsenal's style of play, and Mikel Arteta has shown that he likes his defenders to be versatile, often playing natural centre-backs on either flank.

According to a report from TBR Football, Arsenal are now ready to make a move to sign Ajax defender Hato after holding talks to secure his signature. The 19-year-old appears to be keen on joining the English club, with the report claiming that Hato sees Arsenal as the 'perfect' destination for his career. Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed to GIVEMESPORT that Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres also wants to join the Gunners.

Hato's performances have been exceptional during his time at Ajax, and he even captained the club in the Europa League at the age of 17, which shows his maturity. His versatility could make him a useful option for the Gunners, but there will undoubtedly be question marks as to whether he's a priority.

Riccardo Calafiori hasn't been at the Emirates Stadium for too long, and he's a similar profile to Hato - a centre-back capable of playing on the left-hand side. Hato might also struggle to displace Gabriel in defence, considering the partnership he's built with William Saliba.

There's no doubt Hato, described as 'world-class', would be a long-term signing for the future, but Myles Lewis-Skelly also appears to have the left-back slot locked up for many years to come.
