Manchester United are preparing for what could be their most important transfer window in recent memory, following a disastrous 2024/25 campaign that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League.

The club’s lowest ever league finish has only intensified pressure on head coach Ruben Amorim to deliver a coherent rebuild.

Both in terms of squad depth and tactical identity.

Fans are desperate to see significant change this summer, especially with United missing out on European football for the first time in a decade.

The early arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves has signalled intent.

However, supporters know that much more needs to be done.

Now, it appears another name has been added to the club’s growing shortlist.

According to the The Sun, Manchester United scouts were in attendance at the Friends Arena in Solna during Sweden’s international match against Algeria, keeping a close eye on Hicham Boudaoui.

The 25-year-old midfielder started the game and played an hour.

The Sun’s report states United officials were reportedly impressed by his performance.

Boudaoui, who has been with OGC Nice since 2019, is expected to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer after helping them secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualifier spot.

However, due to UEFA rules and the clubs’ shared ownership under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United are restricted from signing any Nice player until September 2025.

As such, a deal would only be possible on the transfer deadline day – September 1.

Boudaoui featured in 36 matches last season, scoring two goals and registering four assists.

The Algerian international’s versatility and energy in midfield is believed to appeal to Amorim.

The Portuguese is eager to reinforce the squad with players capable of executing his proactive 3-4-2-1 system.

United remain active in the market, with Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo also among their top targets.
