LaNorris Sellers has been on a massive upward trajectory since winning the starting quarterback job for South Carolina last season. Now, he’s entering the 2025 campaign as a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender and one of the bright prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft.

However, in this day and age, a breakout campaign is traditionally just a precursor for programs to tamper. According to Sellers’s father, Norris, the star QB for the Gamecocks was offered $8 million over 2 years to transfer this offseason.

Norris Sellers made the revelation during an interview with Bruce Feldman for “The Athletic.” Some players might be enticed by that kind of offer, but LaNorris has stayed true to the program as a key building block for Shane Beamer:

LaNorris Sellers' dad claims his son was offered $8 million in NIL for two years to leave South Carolina 👀

"Who’s gonna say no to $8 million for two years? They’re gonna be swayed if you don’t have the right people in your corner.” https://t.co/XFLZcRUdYo

As it turns out, the transfer offers from Sellers continued through the spring, according to a report from Mike Uva with “Gamecock Central.” Uva reports that several players on South Carolina’s roster revealed there were teams trying to get Sellers to enter the portal following spring practices to no avail.

To add to this, several of Sellers’ teammates I spoke with have shared with me that there were teams still trying to get him to enter the transfer portal following spring ball. As Sellers has told me in the past, he loves the city and the program. He wants to win as a Gamecock. https://t.co/fBy64Gs7Dt

During his first season as a starter, Sellers showcased a dynamic dual-threat ability, completing 65.6% of his passes for over 2,500 yards and 18 touchdowns. On the ground, Sellers was electric with 674 yards and 7 more touchdowns, leading the Gamecocks to their first 9-win season since 2017.

Now, he’s back for at least another season, and he’s committed to giving all he has to South Carolina.
