Reports emerged over the weekend that Ipswich Town were monitoring Josh Brownhill's contract situation at Burnley, as the midfielder's future at Turf Moor remains unclear.
The Tractor Boys and the Clarets will be swapping places next season, as the former were relegated from the Premier League, and the latter will return to the top flight after a year absent.
However, reports suggest that Ipswich could deal the newly-promoted side a huge dent in their survival hopes, as captain Brownhill is on the radar of the Suffolk-based side ahead of their return to the Championship.
The 29-year-old and his advisers are reportedly keen on a big pay day, and Ipswich could be able to offer this thanks to their parachute payments, but Brownhill would have to sacrifice Premier League football next season.

Following the news of Town's latest transfer interest, Football League World spoke to their resident Ipswich expert, Adam Wilkin, quizzing him on how much of a coup Brownhill would be, if they could get a deal done.
"It didn't surprise me that Town were looking at Brownhill. I'm sure they've got a bunch of agents and scouts all over the place.
"I personally didn't know his contract was expiring, so when I saw that news I was a little bit surprised.

"I think it would be an excellent signing. He's played regular Premier League football. He had an incredible season in the Championship last season, he's a bit of an all-round midfielder, and a good age.
"Picking [him] up on a free would provide a bit more experience in that midfield unit that we're lacking. We're lacking senior bodies in general there.
"He would 100-percent be an excellent signing if we could convince him to drop back down into the Championship," Adam concluded.
Concerns raised over potential Ipswich deal for Brownhill

Despite the excitement that would likely surround bringing a player of such calibre to Portman Road, Adam did follow up by raising a few potential concerns over a deal for Brownhill.
He stated: "Obviously, he has tasted top flight football for quite a few seasons, [he] went back up with Burnley. I feel like it would be a hard sell, but not impossible.
"I think if we could convince him that he'd be a senior figure in the dressing room, and financially we should be able to compete with Burnley, having been in the Premier League, and got those parachute payments now.
"In terms of wages, whether we would opt to do that and break the wage structure too much, I don't know. I feel like there's a fairly solid wage structure in place where no one is earning much more than anyone else.
"But it's clear that our midfield needs a rebuild, and if we could convince him that we have more of a chance of going up next year, then staying in the Premier League, and making him a consistent Premier League footballer than Burnley do currently, I think we've got a chance," Adam concluded.
Whilst it's certainly an excellent piece of business on paper should Ipswich land the 29-year-old's services, there could be deeper issues cause for the players already at the club should Town pay the big bucks for him.
