Blockbuster Three-Team NBA Trade Idea Sends Suns' Kevin Durant to Preferred Landing Spot

The Phoenix Suns are expected to trade NBA legend Kevin Durant before the 2025 NBA Draft, which is on June 25.

The Suns acquired Durant from the Brooklyn Nets in 2023. Phoenix lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the 2023 playoffs in six games, lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2024 playoffs in four games and missed the playoffs this year.

Durant has appeared in 145 games with the Suns, averaging 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Durant wants the Suns to trade him to the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs or Houston Rockets.

However, Durant can't control where Phoenix trades him since he doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract.

Even though Durant doesn't have a no-trade clause, some believe he has leverage in trade talks since he only has one year left on his contract.

According to Charania, Durant is willing to sign an extension with the Spurs, Heat and Rockets.

With that said, Dan Favale of Bleacher Report proposed a three-team trade between the Suns, Spurs and Charlotte Hornets that lands Durant in San Antonio next to De'Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama.

The eighth leading scorer in NBA history, Durant put up 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

It will be intriguing to see if the Spurs, who haven't made the postseason since 2019, find a way to acquire Durant from the Suns.
